Eekin' out the MPG and reducing the footprint

These are my kinds of people:
Hypermilers slightly overinflate their tires to cut rolling resistance, seize every chance to coast with their gasoline engines off, and sometimes “draft” like race cars behind larger vehicles.
Though I don't own a hybrid like these folks, my manual transmission allows me to conserve a bit.

  1. I think I heard a story about these guys on Marketplace. It's cool, but that whole coasting-behind-larger-vehicles idea is really dangerous and illegal. I'm not entirely sure why, but I remember also on a letters section of Marketplace like a week later a state trooper writing really worried that people will start to coast behind semi-trucks, which is supposedly super dangerous for all involved.
